I never had intermittent wipers in the year that I have had the truck (did 84's ever have this?) and I don't know why (some sort of relay, if so where?).ġ. OK, I have a 1984 Doka with the same problem, after the early morning freezes of last week my wiper and front blower suddenly quit and now I am a dumb ass driving with no wipers in rainy Oregon. Get your Bentley and trace the redux relay to the ig switch circuit. The only thing that had me confused was why didn't just pulling out the relay do the same thing? I checked to see if there was a short on the backside of the fuse block where I was removing the harness, but there was no short.Īll Current: 1959 panel van, 1966 single cab.
A few minutes after running the wipers would stop and once I repeated the removal of the harness the wipers would start again. At this point the wipers were then able to run. When I disconected the harness for the motor where it goes into the fuse block I heard the load reduction relay click over.
I pulled back the fuse block and traced the wiring from the motor. I figured out what was going wrong, apparently the load reduction relay was at fault for the wiper/sprayer not working. Everything else in the vehicle works great. Does this have any relation with the load reduction relay? I am stumped at this point. I am getting a signal at the different pins for the different speed selection but the motor will not run, nor will the window washer pump. I pulled the connector off of the wiper motor and I am getting power at the connector. I looked up where the relay is located and at the #10 spot there is only a jumper located on the front of the relay location. I have checked the fuses, everything is fine. There is nothing, no sprayer or movement of the motor on any of the speeds. I have a 1988 Double Cab that has fallen sick with window wiper problems.
